No! You can sign up and take Pay By QR for a test drive for free. No strings attached, no card required. If you upgrade to a paid plan later, you will enter your payment details within the app.

You'll need some basic details about yourself and your business, including your ID, your bank details (so we can pass on remittance) and some contact details.

Yes. You must be at least 18 years old to create a Pay By QR account.

Absolutely. There are no long-term commitments or contracts. No hard feelings should we part ways.

Transaction fees vary depending on your plan. If you're on the Hobby plan, a fee of 7.5% + 5¢ per transaction applies. If you're on the Professional or Commercial plan, that's reduced to just 2.5% + 5¢ per transaction applies.

Each plan has a per-transaction cap. On the Hobby plan you can accept up to $50 per payment, and most stall transactions fall well below that amount. If you need to charge more than $50 in a single sale, you can let the customer split the total across multiple payments (each up to that limit), or upgrade to the Professional (or Commercial) plan, which raises the limit to $250. Need an even higher limit? Contact us and we'll tailor a solution for you.

Yes, Pay By QR payments are very secure. The payments are secured by an industry standard and are 100% PCI DSS compliant.

Unfortunately no. However, it does allow your customers to pay exactly what they owe you. This encourages customers who are 'just a bit short' to pay in full.

All transactions have a 2 business day security hold before they're eligible for payout. This protects against fraud and chargebacks. Here's how it works for each schedule:
Daily: Always a rolling 2-day delay
- Monday's sales → paid Wednesday
- Friday's sales → paid Tuesday (weekend doesn't count)
Weekly (example: paid Mondays):
- Includes sales from previous Thursday to Wednesday
- Thursday/Friday sales must wait for next week's payout
Fortnightly/Monthly:
- Cutoff is 2 business days before the payout runs
- Recent sales roll to the next payout period
Twice Monthly (1st & 15th):
- 1st payout: includes sales up to the 13th of previous month
- 15th payout: includes sales up to the 27th/28th of current month
Note: Public holidays extend these timeframes as they're not business days. -
